With more than 75,000 graduates around the world, the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS (WMI) defines the standards in wilderness medicine training. The goal of WMI is to provide the highest quality education and information for the recognition, treatment, and prevention of wilderness emergencies.
The WMI curriculum focuses on medicine for times when resources are scarce, there is no help on the way, and you have to make your own decisions. Crossing Latitudes is hosting several WMI courses around the world.
Wilderness First Aid is different from the Red Cross or urban first aid. Focus is on initial and prolonged care for a patient in the backcountry. WMI of NOLS is internationally recognized as the leading school teaching wilderness first aid.

Comments from participants:
“I would tell a friend: This first aid course was great! You will get a lot of hands-on practice. The scenarios are realistic and we spent a lot of time outside in all kinds of conditions. The other participants were interesting people. We all worked hard as a team and I now feel prepared to help others on the trail.”
“The staff were great. They made me feel really comfortable and they went out of their way to explain, demonstrate various procedures and answer my questions. This course definitely helped me develop confidence.”
